Mr Emmanuel Rossel |
A SHORT MEMORY TO EMMANUEL ROSSEL FROM BELGIUM
We lost a good deaf friend Emmanuel Rossel. He died on the 11th of January in the clinic in Ghent after a long and incurable disease in the age of 68 years. He was married with Suzanne Van De Wiele - and he is father of two children and has 3 grandchildren. The funeral has taken place the 18th of January in the church of O.L V. Hemelvaart in Nieuwerkerken-Aalst. There were more as 200 deaf and hearing friends to bring Emmanuel a last salute.

Emmanuel was at the Deaf School in Ghent and he was a tailor by profession but not for a long time and he took the opportunity to change and became an employee in the bank until his retirement. He was for many years member of the deaf football club in Ghent and was afterwards President of this club. Emmanuel was a talented football player and he was selected several times for the National Belgian deaf football team. In 1980 he started with a football club in Aalst, where he as working as a secretary.
Emmanuel has worked for many years for the Deaf Sports Federation of Belgium

We are not only losing a great sportsman but a real ambassador for the Deaf Sport on a National and International level. We thank Emmanual for his honourable work for the deaf sports. We will miss him.
