Isabelle Malaurie, EDSO President

Welcome to ours new website.

The European Deaf Sports Organizations Executive Committee and members continually aim to implement the European Deaf Sports Organizations (EDSO) European strategy, to achieve our role in services to the Deaf sports Organizations in Europe.

The Seminar of EDSO Executive Boards and Sports Technical Officers in Manchester, England, from all disciplines was a great success on 23rd and 24th October 2005 and concluded that we are all participants, in the aim of providing good Deaf sports provision.

We discussed in length how we can better share information and work collaboratively with each other to make sports a continuing success. During our visit we also celebrated with the British Deaf Sports Council, their 75th Anniversary. This was to be their last celebration as the BDSC as they have now merged with UK Deaf Sports in which both organisations are officially recognised by the British Government, , and it will be their last, since it now amalgamates with the UK Deaf Sports, which is officially recognised by its government. It was a marvellous party and pleasant surprised for Mrs Torcolini (handball),Norf(athletics),Vasak (waterpolo) and Naaktgeboren-Klein(swimming) rewarded for their long service.

We regret to inform you of the resignation of Mr. Herbert Grill of Austria, who has been Vice-President over the last few years. For personal reasons he has stood down from the executive committee. Herbert has been a dedicated Executive Committee member of EDSO's work and also had a leading role of our old website www.edso.net.

Be assured that we strive in or efforts to facilitate and improve the quality of Deaf Sports in Europe, and provide such support to sportspeople within Europe to achieve their potential and to answer with efficiency our mission to be innovative.

Thanks to the pioneer and leader of our EDSO Mr H.J de Haas, we will now be able to meet regularly in various European Sports events with the important multitude of 43 affiliated countries.

To leave you on a good note.
We are pleased to announce that both our friends in Spain and Poland are now able to participate within Deaf Sporting competitions and Championships. This has been due to suspension restrictions on the countries in regards outstanding funds owed to EDSO. These funds have now been paid in full, and we are please to welcome them back into sporting events within European Deaf Sports.

Also, we thank very much Mrs Nete Stutt and his assistant Mr Rĝine for their great work on the new website.
I wish you a very pleasant time while browsing our website.

Warmest wishes

Isabelle Malaurie,
President,
