The grave of Ruben Alcais, founder of CISS, was visited by us.

12 deaf referees attended Deaf Champions League 2013
With EDSO Andrew Scolding and Andrew Rodda, who had the vast experienced in the professional football, had formed a partnership in recruiting the deaf Referees from all over Europe.

With help from UEFA, which means it had given the opportunity to invite deaf referees to cover the cost of travel and accommodation.

Andrew Scolding, who is also a Referee himself had organised their logistic with help from DCL. Andrew Rodda worked as an Assessor and gave many useful advices and information, which had made a lot of impacts.

All Referees have appeared to be very well engaging to each match with great attitude and their performance had improved as they go along during the Tournament. EDSO and all the Referees have appreciated Andrew Rodda for his skill in mentoring.

Most of the Referees have been officiated for number of years. E.g. Jesus Maria Orejas from Spain has been a refereeing for 22 years. He was selected as the best overall referee during DCL tournament.

Young 18 year old referee, Ricardo from Germany.. has been refereeing for 4 years. He had been selected for one of the finals and he showed that he had the experience.

At the end of the Tournament, all the Referees are looking forward to go home to a nice hot bath with a great memory.

4 more years to help Deaf Football EDSO thanks UEFA for their support
The agreement has been made between UEFA and EDSO. EDSO President and UEFA had successfully signed the agreement on 2 March 2013.

EDSO is expected to receive €40,000 per annum from UEFA, to the total sum of €200,000 until 2017.

Andrew Scolding, Football Technical Officer, had been working hard with UEFA on the projects to make this agreement and had successfully achieved their bid for further funding toward EDSO Football Championships and its development.
This grant are to cover the cost for the technical of EDSO Preliminary and Final competitions and also cover the cost for EDSO Observers to visit every EDSO football matches in the Preliminary competition of Men Football. Not only just Men Football, but also for 2nd Women Football Championship and 4th Futsal Championship to ensure that the host associations are up to require standards and fall in line with the regulation.

In addition, EDSO is expect to provide financial support for the EDSO Members, who are hosting the Mini-Tournament as an qualification stage toward the Final stage of 4th Futsal Championship.

It is not only just for the competition itself, but also for development and promoting the best European deaf football club to participate in the "Deaf Champion League" annually.

EDSO had already been promoting Match Officials with hearing impairment to participate in the Championship by using the recent Deaf Champions League 2013 as a "Stepping Stones" towards the elite competition. EDSO had already employed the Assessor for the duration of the Deaf Champion League. EDSO had made clear that those Referees for the European Championships will have to have the experience of highest calibre from their own National Football Association.

Unfortunately, there is one downfall is that the cost does not cover for ICSD European Summer Deaflympic qualifying round in 2016, but EDSO will try to send observers only if any funding from ICSD, IOC and FIFA are made available.
